Saved By the 90s @ Webster Hall, 9/30/2016
After navigating our way through a massive crowd of people lingering on the sidewalk and enduring a security search that made TSA look like candy stripers, we found ourselves among the revelers ready for the weekly “Saved By the 90s†party at Webster Hall. The crowd was made up of a good mix, including a bachelorette party in the VIP section who could have easily been extras on Clueless with their butterfly hair clips and choker necklaces.
DJ Suga Ray started off the evening spinning 90s jams, and some audience members were clearly psyched to hear old faves like “Baby Got Back†by Sir Mix-a-Lot. When The Bayside Tigers took the stage, folks were amped to dance to that nostalgic flavor of alternative music the era brought with it. They rocked out to tunes by bands like Lit and Blink 182 and appropriately poured out all the angst songs like Alanis Morissette’s “You Oughta Know†rightfully deserves.
The weekly party would be a good fit for anyone (19+) wanting to relive their grungy youth days—especially someone with a pair of high-heeled Sketchers or a denim Blossom hat they’re dying to break out of their closet again.
