Romance your taste buds at PAIR Wine and Cheese
The world’s best romantic couples always magnetically complement one another in the moment, reciprocating the right energy and passion: Romeo and Juliet, Rick and Ilsa, Beyonce and Jay-Z. And so, like magnets, wine and cheese come together.
At PAIR, curator and monger extraordinaire Chung Park is an expert in creating the holiest of matrimonies when pairing wine and cheese, and he’s extended his know-how to the layman by providing a menu parsing out perfect pairings alongside delectable pickled vegetables.
This review will not call out specific wines but will recommend that you put yourself into Chung’s hands for the perfect pairing of any menu item.
Recommended mates for your Proseccos, whites and reds include:
- Salt Roasted Beets in cultured cream, cured salmon and roe, with everything bagel crumble ($13)
- The Deviled Egg served with radish and pickle relish ($6) [pictured]
- AÂ large plate of Rigatoni with heritage pork ragu, baby kale and Grana Padano ($19)
Do not leave without trying the Camembert-style Bent River ($7) from Minnesota served with something acerbic.
The shop itself leads into a small, cozy dining area with built-in alcoves. Stop in on an Indian Summer day and grab a seat on the patio for some fine, Cobble Hill back-yard living.
You can also stop in to pick up your cheese and charcuterie to go if your coupling calls for an even more intimate setting.
