The Imbible: Christmas Carol Cocktails @ The Elektra Theatre
For those poor New Yorkers inevitably being dragged down to Times Square this time of year in the joy-killing grip of friends and families in town for the holidays, there’s some boozy entertainment to ease the pain in an unsuspected location above that notorious Times Scare NYC attraction. The play, Imbible: Christmas Carol Cocktails directed by Anthony Caporale and Nicole DiMattei, features those champions of Christmas backgrounds, Scrooge and Marley, as they journey through time to learn how to make cocktails from the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Future accompanied by a-cappella Christmas carols, corny jokes, and a slightly tipsy audience. The last of these owed to the three cocktails served to each guest throughout the performance. Though the humor is ridiculously cheesy, the enthusiasm and cheery vocals of the cast are infectious. Also, the cocktails are obscure enough that each one is a likely first for most of the audience. All in all, it’s not a bad way to kick off a Friday or Saturday night in the City.
Performances of The Imbible: Christmas Carol Cocktails are taking place Fridays at 10:30 p.m. and Saturdays at 7:00 p.m. through January 2nd. Tickets for select dates can be purchased for a discount on Living Social.
