Pera Soho: A Hideaway in Plain Sight

Making your rounds through SoHo on a given afternoon or bounding down Broome Street to gather up sweets and treats for your holiday loved ones, it’s easy to walk right by the sleek grey exterior of Pera, Soho and miss the oasis within. Pera’s second location, smack on the corner of Thompson and Broome Streets, harkens back to a walled in ancient city, filled with Eastern Mediterranean delights.

Pera Soho now invites us to weekend brunch and we happily accept! While the traditional Salmon Eggs Benedict with Capers and Hollandaise ($18) does the NYC institution proudly, we recommend the medium-rare Hangar Steak Frites with Celery Root Remoulade ($21)  for a power-up before you hit the Broadway shopping strip. Try the “Shakshuka” Eggs poached in Tomato Sauce, Soujouk, Kasseri Cheese and Scallions ($15) to test the chefs traditional flare. The Pera Lime Rickey or the perfectly-balanced Sumac Bloody Mary here will top off your exploratory excursions with a merry halo.

The Prix-Fixe Brunch Menu at Pera includes one main dish, brunch cocktail and coffee at $21. To see the full menu visit: peranyc.com.
