Wayne Rogers, Trapper John of M.A.S.H. fame, has been a successful businessman for more than three decades, owning companies as diverse as a wedding dress supplier and housing developments, producing Broadway Plays and HBO specials, and sitting on the board of other companies his friends own. He’s made a mint along the way.
How does he do it? Well, he doesn’t exactly tell you in his book Make You own Rules: A Renegade Guide To Unconventional Success (co-authored by Josh Young). However, Rogers does offer some creative approaches to business at large, creative mainly because they are basically just good common sense. (And if we are missing anything these days in modern day business, it is good common sense.) Rogers’ successes have been won by his hard work, learning as much as he could and can of the business he was going into and using the capitalist system to his betterment.
What I mainly came away with was a rather basic way of seeing the world of business by making sure one is prepared, finding good people one can work with and surveying customers to what they might need from you.
I’m not sure how renegade Make You own Rules: A Renegade Guide To Unconventional Success is or how unconventional the business Wayne Rogers has made million from are, but still, the man is a success and knows how to tell you about it.
